Madeira SkyPark Receives Conditional Approval from Câmara de Lobos Municipal Council

The proposed Madeira SkyPark tourism development, planned for an area between Curral das Freiras and Jardim da Serra, has received conditional planning approval from the Câmara de Lobos Municipal Council. This decision represents a further stage in the licensing process and does not constitute final authorisation.

The project includes a cable-car system, adventure park, nature interpretation centre, and zipline, spanning Curral das Freiras, the Paredão viewpoint, and Boca da Corrida. Developers described the council's decision as "a relevant advance", with CEO Nuno Freitas calling it "a very relevant milestone".

The developers state the project aims to diversify Madeira's tourism offer, provide new ways to experience the natural landscape, and contribute to the regional economy. However, the proposal faces significant opposition, particularly concerning its potential environmental and landscape impacts, and remains subject to further scrutiny.
