The number of registered unemployed in the Autonomous Region of Madeira continued to decrease in August, both year-on-year and compared to the previous month.
At the end of August, 4,871 people were registered, representing a reduction of 571 unemployed compared to August 2025, a drop of 10.5%. These figures, released by the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP), place Madeira as the second region in the country with the largest year-on-year reduction in registered unemployment.
The regional trend contrasts with the national situation, where unemployment fell by 9.3% in August. Madeira also recorded a monthly reduction of 1.8%, going from 4,961 unemployed in July to 4,871 in August, the opposite of the national trend where unemployment increased by 1.7%.
