The commercialization of Madeira Wine saw a decrease in both quantity and value during the first half of 2026. Between January and June, approximately 1.2 million liters were sold, generating 8.9 million euros in first-sale revenues, representing a year-on-year drop of 10.5% in volume and 4.7% in value.
In contrast, the domestic market experienced growth of 22.3% in quantity and 21.3% in value. Exports to the European Union fell by 25.1% in quantity and 21.9% in value, particularly impacted by declines in France, Belgium, and Germany. Non-EU markets saw a decrease of 4.9% in volume and 5.7% in value, despite positive performance from the United States and China.
In the second quarter of the year, this downward trend continued, with sales declining 21.2% in quantity and 10.6% in value compared to the same period last year.
