Two officers from Madeira’s Public Security Police (PSP) achieved podium finishes at the 2026 Skyrunning Masters World Championships, held in São Pedro do Sul.
Chief Freitas became world champion in the over-50 category and secured second place overall among men. Officer Lúcia Franco was runner-up in the over-45 category and placed third overall among women. Their performances helped Portugal win the team standings.
The demanding 65-kilometer race, featuring 6,500 meters of cumulative ascent, tested competitors' endurance and determination. The Regional PSP Command praised the officers' dedication and discipline, noting their achievements demonstrated an ability to overcome personal limits.
