The Mais Santa Cruz coalition issued a clarification following a statement by the Mayor of Santa Cruz, Élia Ascensão, regarding the Municipal Assembly meeting.
According to the coalition, its deputies were merely exercising their right to information and oversight, seeking clarification on a judicial process and other matters of municipal interest.
Mais Santa Cruz claims the Mayor prefers to speak of "political opportunism" and victimization rather than answering the questions posed, while upholding the presumption of innocence and demanding transparency and accountability.
