PS-Madeira Demands Clarification from Regional Government on PTRR Funds

PS-Madeira requests the Regional Government to reveal the amounts, deadlines, and planned investments for the region under the PTRR.

PS-Madeira Demands Clarification from Regional Government on PTRR Funds

The president of PS-Madeira, Célia Pessegueiro, demanded that the Regional Government publicly disclose the amounts Madeira will receive under the Recovery and Resilience Program (PTRR), the transfer deadlines, and the planned investments.

In a press conference, Pessegueiro recalled that the national program, valued at over 22 billion euros, has been extended to the entire country, but Madeira lacks clear information on the figures and when they will be received. She criticized the lack of transparency, questioning whether the Executive presented 80 measures or just two, and whether this reflects withdrawal or weak negotiation capacity.

Pessegueiro highlighted that, based on previous programs, Madeira should be entitled to approximately 1.1 billion euros from the PTRR. The socialist leader considers it essential to have these amounts defined for medium and long-term budgetary planning, especially before the party consultations for the Regional Budget in September/October.

She suspects that the Regional Government's lack of announcement is due to uncertainty and the absence of commitment from the Republic's Government. Pessegueiro criticized the Madeiran Executive for, in her view, "covering for a government of the same political color that, until now, has not been friendly to Madeira," contrasting this with the transparency of previous socialist governments.
