Clube Desportivo Nacional (CD Nacional) has announced the death of Maurílio Freitas, a former football player and club member.
Freitas, who played as a central defender, wore the Nacional jersey and maintained a strong connection to the club throughout his life. He was instrumental in the team's promotions to national championships and ranks as the second player with the most appearances for the club, with 337 matches over eleven seasons, often as captain.
The 2019 edition of the ‘João O Velha’ Veterans Tournament was dedicated to him. CD Nacional extended its condolences to his family and friends.
