The National Union of Professional Firefighters (SNBS) has publicly rejected statements made by the National Union of Civil Protection (SNPC) regarding the operation of the Machico Firefighters. The SNBS assures that night service will not suffer any partial suspension, contradicting disseminated information.
According to the SNBS, the current schedule organization maintains the same number of operational staff at all times, and the alleged suspension is part of a strategy to create an artificial "emergency situation." The union criticizes the SNPC for demonstrating "lack of rigor and knowledge of the facts" and solely holds the Machico Municipality responsible for staffing decisions.
The SNBS maintains that the Municipal Chamber opted to recruit operational assistants instead of professional firefighters, and that the Regional Civil Protection Service was "passive" in this decision. The union reiterates that it has denounced this situation from the beginning and will defend compliance with the law in accessing the professional firefighter career.
