According to data from the National Statistics Institute, in 2023, 19.1% of the resident population in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was at risk of poverty, a figure higher than the national average of 16.6%. Despite the unemployment rate reaching its lowest since 2011 in the second quarter of 2026 (3.5%), the party emphasizes that it is possible to have employment and still face economic difficulties.
The party identifies the high cost of housing as a factor pressuring families. In 2026, the median housing price in Funchal reached 3,322 euros per square meter, with significant values in Câmara de Lobos and Machico. For rentals, the median rent for new contracts in Madeira was 11.82 euros per square meter. Nova Direita advocates for public policies that prioritize affordable housing, increase public and controlled-price housing supply, and support families in need.
