The Novembro Azul run will take place on 14 November at 7pm near the Sé of Funchal. The event was presented at a press conference held by the Madeira regional branch of the Portuguese League Against Cancer.
Organised with the Madeira Athletics Association, the race forms part of an awareness campaign on men's health and prostate cancer prevention. Organisers stressed the need to break the taboos surrounding the disease, noting that many men still postpone check-ups and tests out of fear.
Beyond the race, the campaign includes further activities throughout November, among them the "Minuto Azul" project, which involves posting videos on social media. The community was invited to take part and to wear something blue.
