The Portuguese Communist Party in Madeira (PCP/Madeira) has called for a maximum price of 20 euros for a 13-kilogram gas cylinder. The party argues that current prices in the region place a significant burden on household budgets.
During an event in Funchal, PCP official Ricardo Lume highlighted the price disparity between Madeira and the Azores. According to party data, a 13kg gas cylinder costs 31.87 euros in Funchal, compared to 23.50 euros in Ponta Delgada, a difference of 8.37 euros.
The PCP previously submitted a bill to the Assembly of the Republic in September, proposing a cap of 20 euros, including taxes, for the retail sale of 13kg butane LPG cylinders.
