The Judicial Police (PJ), in collaboration with MAOC-N, FRONTEX, and Europol, led Operation "Blue 2.0," which dismantled a significant cocaine trafficking route across the Atlantic Ocean. Between May 27 and June 15, 465 kg of cocaine and 42 kg of hashish were seized, along with two high-speed vessels and 800 liters of fuel.
The operation focused on the Eastern Atlantic corridor, between the Canary Islands and the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores, aiming to intercept vessels transporting cocaine from Latin America to Europe through complex offshore transfers. Three people were arrested, and six vessels were inspected.
This action confirms the trend of criminal networks increasingly using maritime transport to reduce exposure in ports, fragmenting risk across multiple stages and vessels. The intelligence gathered will help dismantle the networks responsible for these transatlantic operations.
