Porto Santo is participating this weekend in the 4th Atlantic Tourism Conference (JAT), taking place in Velas, São Jorge, in the Azores. The initiative brings together the golden island with the islands of São Jorge and Sal (Cape Verde) to debate the challenges and future of tourism in island territories.
The event, born from the twinning of the municipalities of Porto Santo, Velas, and Sal, focuses on 'Smart Tourism in Atlantic Islands'. Discussions cover artificial intelligence in tourism, sustainability as a development pillar, and tourism's impact on local community quality of life.
The conference aims to foster experience exchange and find solutions to common island challenges, balancing tourism growth with sustainability, innovation, and population well-being.
