Marina PXO-Actividades Náuticas, S.A., which took over the concession for Porto Santo Marina in June, is facing challenges due to a lack of qualified staff to operate the Travel Lift.
This equipment, also known as a mobile gantry crane, is essential for safely lifting boats out of the water for maintenance. Currently, Port Authority staff are providing provisional support, with no end date in sight. The union has expressed concerns and scheduled a meeting with the port administration.
The concession agreement included provisions for APRAM staff to provide training on the Travel Lift's operation. However, the absence of concessionaire personnel to receive this training is hindering progress. Questions regarding the expertise required for operation and insurance coverage in case of issues remain unresolved.
