Thousands of pilgrims gathered in Machico to fulfill their promises to the Lord of Miracles. The procession followed the usual route between the chapel in Banda D'Além and the main church.
The Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás, joined the celebration, participating in the procession and presiding over the mass. Earlier in the day, the bishop had blessed the pilgrims who began their walk from Funchal.
