PSP Reinforces Border Control at Madeira Airport

The Public Security Police (PSP) will reinforce border control at Madeira International Airport with new specialized agents. This is part of a national deployment of 367 officers who recently completed training for these roles.

The new officers will begin a two-week operational training period. In addition to the 170 agents stationed at Lisbon airport, the remainder will be distributed among the airports of Porto, Faro, Madeira, and the Azores.

The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, believes this reinforcement will make passenger control at national airports more agile, while acknowledging the possibility of occasional constraints due to IT issues or database access problems.
