Public Buildings Lit Green for Mental Health Awareness in Madeira

Key public buildings on the island of Madeira, including the Regional Health Secretariat, Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, and the Regional Health Directorate, were lit green on Saturday night. The initiative, "Madeira Illuminated for Mental Health," aims to raise awareness about the importance of psychological well-being, mental illness prevention, and combating stigma.

The action, initiated by specialist mental health nurses, involves other regional entities. Commemorations will continue throughout October with literacy, awareness, and training activities.

Regional Health Secretary Micaela Fonseca de Freitas emphasized mental health as a priority, stating: "There is no health without mental health. The teams' work focuses on strengthening prevention, combating prejudice, and ensuring people find integrated and humane responses within the Regional Health Service when they need them most."
