Regional Government Allocates 2.7 Million Euros for Christmas, New Year's, and Carnival Illuminations

The Regional Government of Madeira has allocated a budget of €2,697,947.29 for Christmas, New Year's, and Carnival illuminations. This decision was formalized through Ordinance No. 362/2026, signed by the Regional Secretaries for Tourism, Environment and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, and Finance, Duarte Freitas.

The funds cover budgetary charges, electrical connections, maintenance, assembly, and disassembly of decorative light installations for the Christmas and New Year's festivities of the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 seasons. It also includes the Regional Trade Christmas initiative for 2026 and 2027, and the Carnival festivities for 2027 and 2028.

The expenditure will be distributed across fiscal years: €269,794.73 in 2026, €1,618,768.37 in 2027, and €809,384.19 in 2028. The ordinance takes effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (JORAM).
