Funchal Municipal Council PS councilor Rui Caetano welcomes the announcement of the Municipal Police's creation but criticizes the PSD for an almost decade-long delay.
Caetano laments the "manifest political deadlock" that prevented the PS proposal's implementation since 2019, believing the city lost time and opportunities to address issues like traffic and abusive parking.
According to the councilor, the Municipal Police is a strategic investment for safety and quality of life, and the municipality has the financial capacity to support it. He criticizes the PSD for having "postponed the inevitable out of sheer party blindness," resulting in "lost time" for Funchal.
