Madeira CDS-PP MP Sara Madalena presented a Motion of Congratulations in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira to João Lourenço Pimenta Viveiros, an athlete from Ludens Clube de Machico. The young Madeiran athlete secured two European junior Stand Up Paddle (SUP) titles: SUP Sprint and SUP Technical.
The achievements were made at the Paddle Europe Stand Up Paddling Championships 2026, held in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece, where Viveiros represented the National Team. Sara Madalena emphasized that these victories are a "source of immense pride" for the athlete, his family, the club, and the Autonomous Region of Madeira, carrying the name of the island and Portugal abroad.
The parliamentarian also highlighted the importance of teamwork, associative movements, and support structures for athletes, such as Ludens Clube de Machico, the Regional Canoeing Association of Madeira, and the Portuguese Canoeing Federation. The motion of congratulations was communicated to all parties involved.
