Next Sunday, August 16th, the Ilha parish will celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Associação de Compartes Ilha Autêntica with the unveiling of a statue honoring the shepherd.
The ceremony begins at 2:00 PM with Sunday Mass at the Parish Church. At 3:00 PM, in the parish center, the sculpture, created by Luís Paixão and conceived by Father Bernardino Trindade, will be inaugurated and blessed.
A commemorative session will follow at 3:30 PM in the Parish Hall, presided over by the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment, and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, accompanied by the Faial Philharmonic Band. The association emphasizes the importance of the shepherd profession to the parish's tradition and livelihood, aiming to raise awareness among younger generations about its value.
