A search and rescue operation has been launched in the Fanal area of Madeira to find a foreign national who may be missing.
The alert was raised by the man's mother, who notified regional authorities after failing to contact him. The young man's phone reportedly triggered the SOS system, sending a message to his mother.
Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente, along with elements of the GNR and Forest Police, are on the ground. There is no confirmation yet that the young man is lost or injured, and authorities continue their search efforts.
