Member of Parliament Vânia Jesus has highlighted the ongoing issue of shops refusing to accept Madeira postcodes and preventing deliveries to the region.
Speaking at a parliamentary commitment on geoblocking in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, the MP also pointed out companies charging shipping costs "much higher" than those for mainland Portugal, impacting equal access and consumer rights.
Vânia Jesus advocated for a review of legislation and enforcement, along with improved inter-agency coordination and greater transparency in procedures and penalties, suggesting current fines may not be a sufficient deterrent.
