Storm Bruna forces two cruise ship calls at Funchal to be cancelled

Adverse weather linked to Storm Bruna has led to the cancellation of two cruise ship calls at the Port of Funchal.

Cunard's Queen Anne, due on Sunday, 8 November, has been re-routed on its 12-day cruise from Southampton and will no longer visit Madeira. P&O Cruises' Azura, expected on Monday, 9 November, has also cancelled its call and will follow an alternative route to avoid poor sea conditions.

The forecast had already prompted Mein Schiff 7 to bring its visit forward. Scheduled for Saturday, 7 November, it arrived on Friday, spent the night in port and left at midday on Saturday with 2,908 passengers and 1,022 crew for Santa Cruz de La Palma in the Canary Islands.
