A TAP Airbus A320neo preparing to take off for Porto aborted its takeoff this morning at Madeira International Airport and returned to the parking apron after a problem with one of its engines.
The incident was reported by João Capela, a spotter with the Madeira Aviation Spotting group. The aircraft had landed in Santa Cruz at 08:11 from Porto on flight TP1701, and its return departure was scheduled for 08:45.
At 10:00, the aircraft was still on the apron. Adverse weather affecting the region has already forced some aircraft to abort their landing attempts, although airport operations are so far proceeding normally.
