The Madeira Teachers' Union (SPM) has announced a public rally to be held in front of the Regional Secretariat for Education on Wednesday, September 9th, at 11 AM. The initiative aims to give a voice to teachers and educators who are reportedly outraged by the shortcomings identified in the teacher placement process.
Francisco Oliveira, SPM coordinator, described the process as "disastrous" during a press conference, where data on the teacher shortage in the region was also presented. The union intends for this action to mobilize the educational community and highlight a problem that, they claim, affects schools, teachers, and students.
The SPM also indicated that further initiatives are planned for the beginning of the academic year to maintain pressure on the Regional Government and demand solutions to the situation.
