Public transport and tourism workers in Madeira have reaffirmed their support for the STRAMM/FECTRANS union's proposals in salary negotiations. At a meeting held in the region, the union was mandated to maintain the presented demands, including a 75 euro increase in the salary scale and a one euro increase in the meal allowance for 2026.
The negotiation process is currently blocked, but STRAMM assures it is still seeking a solution through negotiation. However, the union warned that workers' "patience is not eternal" and that they may resort to "necessary means" if swift responses are not provided.
The workers reject the notion that alleged financial difficulties of companies or delays in payments from the Regional Government justify wage stagnation. STRAMM advocates for a policy of valorization and standardization of remuneration conditions in the sector.
Additionally, a structural solution for the transport sector was discussed, with STRAMM advocating for the subordination of workers and companies to a single public authority, integrated into a public service logic, for greater standardization of salaries and working conditions.
