The University of Madeira (UMa) has recently established the Research Group in Human Sciences: Texts, Images, and Communities (HUM-TIC), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
The HUM-TIC aims to be a hub for interdisciplinary reflection and research, with three main thematic axes defined for the period 2026-2029: body, age, and gender; borders, spaces, and integration; and emotions and representation. The group currently comprises 24 researchers.
This initiative strengthens scientific research at UMa and fosters collaboration among faculty and researchers, as well as integration into research networks. HUM-TIC has already announced the 1st International Congress in Human Sciences, Body, Age, and Gender, scheduled for June 2027, with proposal submissions open until January 2027.
