Volta Recycling Systems Deployed in Madeira's Supermarkets

The island of Madeira has received 2500 Volta recycling systems, which have been distributed across mainland Portugal, the Azores, and Madeira itself.

Most of these machines will be available in the island's supermarkets. Consumers can deposit empty plastic bottles (for water, juices, etc.) and aluminum cans, provided they are not crushed, contain no liquids, and are capped, with a maximum size of 3 liters.

The Volta systems scan the barcode and issue a credit receipt for the cashier. Milk containers or glass bottles should be recycled through other channels. Recycling is considered particularly important on an island.
