The XXI European Folklore Week comes to a close this Thursday with a night celebrating Portuguese folklore. The event is taking place at the Elisa da Costa e Silva de Afonseca Amphitheatre in the Santa Maria Maior Civic Centre.
The closing program begins at 9 PM with a performance by the Rancho Folclórico de Mundão, from Viseu. This will be followed at 9:45 PM by the Grupo de Folclore e Etnográfico da Boa Nova, the organizing entity, which celebrated 61 years of existence and has a long history of promoting Madeiran folklore.
This year's edition of the European Folklore Week featured participation from groups from Madeira, mainland Portugal, the Azores, the Canary Islands, Croatia, and Slovakia, fostering a five-day cultural exchange in Funchal.
