Madeira will continue to be under a yellow hot weather warning until Friday, July 4th. The warning, issued by the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), covers the north and south coasts, as well as the mountainous regions.
Notably, from midnight on Friday to midday on Saturday, the island's mountainous areas will be under an orange hot weather warning. This extension is due to the persistence of high maximum temperatures.
Authorities recommend special attention for vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic illnesses. Protective measures advised include staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure during peak heat hours, and seeking cool, airy places.
