The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has extended the yellow warning for hot weather for the island of Madeira and Porto Santo. The decision was made due to the "persistence of high maximum temperature values".
The warning will be in effect until 7 PM on Tuesday, September 15th. In Madeira-North Coast, Porto Santo, and mountainous regions, the warning began at 10 AM on Sunday. On the South Coast, the warning started at 7:17 AM on Sunday and remains in place until the same time on Tuesday.
The areas covered by the yellow warning include the North Coast, South Coast, Porto Santo, and mountainous regions, with the forecast of high maximum temperatures expected to continue over the coming days.
