A young English tourist, around 20 years old, is in serious condition following a fall of over 15 meters in the Barreirinha bathing complex in São Gonçalo, Funchal.
The incident occurred in the early hours of October 4th, when the young man reportedly jumped over a fence near the Igreja do Socorro, landing in the pool area and being stopped by a sun lounger. The rescue services were alerted at 2 am.
The tourist was taken to the hospital with suspected pelvic fractures. A friend of the victim, deeply distressed by the event, was also transported to the hospital. The Madeira Volunteer Firefighters responded with two ambulances and a support vehicle, and EMIR provided first aid at the scene.
