Grapes are already ripening on the slopes of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, with bunches visible on the pergolas lining the road.
This year's harvest officially begins on August 31st, a date agreed upon by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, and the Management Council of the Madeira Wine, Embroidery, and Crafts Institute (IVBAM), along with wine sector operators.
Initial estimates predict a production of around 3,000 tons of grapes, an increase of approximately 10% compared to the previous year. Support for the Tinta Negra grape variety has been raised from 200 to 255 euros per ton, and the Boal variety will now receive 255 euros per ton, a significant rise from the previous 81 euros.
