The 22nd edition of the Calheta Rally, organized by Club Sports da Madeira, kicks off tomorrow with its central hub in Prazeres and start ceremonies at the local marina.

The event, which is the fifth in the Coral da Madeira Rally Championship, will feature nine special stages, including a super-special in Vila da Calheta on Friday night and double passes through the Prazeres, Golfe Calheta, Ponta do Pargo, and Fonte do Bispo stages.

Sporting attention will focus on the battle between the championship's leading drivers, such as João Silva, Miguel Nunes, and Miguel Caires, with Artur Quintal aiming for a podium spot. The rally will also serve as preparation for the Madeira Rally for drivers like Rúben Rodrigues, Pedro Almeida, and José Pedro Fontes, who will debut the Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale on the island. Alexandre Camacho returns, aiming to prepare for the Madeira Rally and extend his victory record.

Intense competition is also expected in the Master category, featuring drivers like Gil Freitas, Vítor Sá, Filipe Freitas, Miguel Andrade, Paulo Mendes, and Rui Pinto. The battle among front-wheel-drive vehicles also promises to be fierce, with 14 competitive cars entered. With a total of 10 Rally2 cars, 5 from the RGT group, and other competitors, Calheta is set for a major motorsport celebration.
