A 64-year-old man, of Swiss nationality, died this afternoon, October 19th, while bathing at the Doca do Cavacas Bathing Complex in Funchal.
The causes of the incident are unknown at this time. Following an alert received at 4:00 PM, various rescue services were activated, including the Maritime Police, a medical team, and firefighters.
Lifeguards removed the victim from the water and initiated Basic Life Support maneuvers, with support from the Rapid Intervention Medical Team. Despite their efforts, the situation could not be reversed. The death was declared by the EMIR doctor, and the body will be transferred to the Forensic Medical Office of Madeira.
