The ADN Madeira party has requested that the Ribeira Brava Municipal Council make public the process that led to the use of the former Campo da Adega in Campanário as a temporary site for waste and cleaning materials. According to the party, this situation was documented between April 2022 and September 2023.
ADN Madeira recalls that the Municipal Council itself acknowledged the provisional use of the space in April 2022, promising its removal "as soon as possible." A year later, in April 2023, the Mayor confirmed the practice again and mentioned a procedure to contract the transport of materials. An RTP Madeira report in September 2023 indicated the site had been used for over a year for rubble storage, partly by the municipality itself.
The party believes the prolonged use warrants clarification on the conditions, duration, types and quantities of waste, safety measures, and final destination. They seek publication of documents such as orders, environmental permits, and transport records. ADN Madeira acknowledges potential operational constraints but emphasizes that the Council admitted prolonged use and classified the situation as provisional, without claiming illegality without access to documentation.
