Albuquerque Assures Madeira's Air Links Are Safeguarded

The President of the Regional Government assures that air links between Madeira and the mainland are safeguarded within the TAP privatization process.

Miguel Albuquerque has guaranteed that air connections and the operational efficiency of travel between the mainland and the Region are fully safeguarded within the framework of TAP's privatization.

The President of the Regional Government reiterated the statements made by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, who announced the entry of Lufthansa into the shareholder structure of the Portuguese airline. Territorial connectivity with the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores was one of the pillars defined by the Government of the Republic in the privatization process.

Lufthansa has been selected as the partner for the partial privatization of TAP, with a bid of €1.201 billion for 44.9% of the capital. The transaction is expected to be completed by early 2028.
