The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, dismissed criticisms from Pedro Calado concerning how wealth generated by economic growth reaches Madeiran families. Albuquerque assured that the executive will not change its direction, stating, "He can give his opinions as he wishes. The Government has a course. I will not follow opinions."
Pedro Calado had questioned the destination of the Region's wealth, noting that despite economic growth, many individuals face difficulties with daily expenses and housing access.
In response, Albuquerque affirmed that the Regional Government will continue with its defined policy, highlighting a €175 million investment in affordable housing and the importance of the real estate market and local accommodation for the island's economy.
