Madeira's Regional Government President, Miguel Albuquerque, highlighted the region's "positive economic indicators" in a video, stating that Madeira "presents the greatest economic dynamism in the Country," with 62 consecutive months of GDP growth.
Albuquerque noted the lowest unemployment rate in 23 years and the highest regional minimum wage in Portugal. He stated that the wealth generated raises the region's per capita average by about 7% above the national average.
The official advocated for a low-tax policy, including reductions in IRS and IRC, as a key factor for competitiveness and for "reducing social disparities." He attributed the growth to the collective effort of entrepreneurs, workers, and the population, defending the maintenance of the current political line to ensure stability and investor confidence.
