Madeira's PSD leader, Miguel Albuquerque, declared on Saturday evening that he has made peace with Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. However, Albuquerque assured that he has no fear of facing disagreements when it comes to defending the rights of Madeirans.
Speaking in Porto Santo during the traditional summer rally, Albuquerque emphasized the importance of political autonomy as a fundamental achievement that only endures with continuous defense by the people of Madeira and Porto Santo. He called on new generations to maintain this spirit.
"There are no consensuses, there are no dialogues when it comes to our fundamental rights," stated Albuquerque, adding that despite making peace with Montenegro, he will not hesitate to confront differences if Madeira's rights are not safeguarded. The Social Democrat also warned against politicians who seek to be loved rather than make difficult decisions, as the latter often contradict established interests.
