The president of PSD/Madeira and the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, stated during the PSD/Madeira Summer Festival that he does not seek consensus with the opposition, whom he accused of uttering "delusions and lies." According to Albuquerque, "delusions and lies do not transform Madeira, and the people do not trust them."
Albuquerque believes the opposition "cannot govern" the Region and asserted that if they were in power, "Madeira would sink." The official also mentioned a good relationship with the prime minister but assured he would not hesitate to defend Madeira's interests.
He further highlighted the progress and development brought by autonomy, stressing the importance of preserving the Region's decision-making capacity and urged Madeirans not to have "short memories," recalling the island's 61 consecutive months of economic growth.
