Albuquerque Seeks More Affordable Housing Without Harming Real Estate and Local Accommodation

The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, stated that affordable housing construction is a priority for Madeira and that the executive is finalizing an investment of 175 million euros in this area.

Albuquerque argued that this policy should not compromise the real estate market, which he considers "very important for Madeira's economy," as it mobilizes companies, creates jobs, and circulates capital. He also advocated for the continuation of local accommodation, subject to regulations, for its income-generating potential for many families.

These remarks were made during a visit to the rehabilitation project of the former Porto da Ribeira School in Campanário, which will create six social housing units. This project, promoted by the Municipality and funded by the PRR, is intended for families identified within the Local Housing Strategy.
