American photographer and content creator Kyle Quin Schrock, 36, survived a 60-metre fall while walking the Lapas Pretas trail in São Vicente on 11 October.
A small bush stopped his fall and held him until he could be rescued by helicopter. He suffered several fractures and faces a lengthy recovery. In a video shared on Instagram, he described believing he was going to die.
According to local reports, he was airlifted from the scene and taken by ambulance to Dr Nélio Mendonça Hospital. His family has launched a fundraising campaign to cover medical, rehabilitation and travel costs.
