Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM) assures that there will be sufficient water for irrigation until the end of the agricultural year, even with reservoirs at only 20% to 30% capacity.
Amílcar Gonçalves, ARM's president, explained that reserve management is strategic to ensure irrigation in the final phase, anticipating refilling with winter rains.
Approximately 70% of the water used comes from underground sources, such as springs and galleries, providing resilience to the regional water system, complementing surface reserves and supply from the north of the island.
