ARPIRAM calls for public turnout at housing rights protest

ARPIRAM backs the 'Porta a Porta' movement's protest on 14 November in Funchal and urges members and residents to take part.

The Association of Retirees, Pensioners and Elderly People of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARPIRAM) has joined the protest organised by the 'Porta a Porta' movement for the right to housing, scheduled for 14 November, and is calling on its members and the wider public to take part.

In a note sent to our newsroom, the association says the difficulties in accessing decent housing amount to a social crisis and that it is the duty of citizens to demand a broader public housing policy from government. It argues that housing should not be a luxury for a few but a universal and fundamental right.

The protest begins at 11:00 on Rua Dr. Fernão de Ornelas in Funchal.
