A program to remove asbestos, initiated in 2016 and declared complete in 2020, has not yet fully eradicated this hazardous material in the city of Funchal.
The Funchal Municipal Chamber assures that asbestos is no longer present in residential neighborhoods. However, the dangerous material still remains on the roofs of two municipal buildings.
This situation contrasts with the official conclusion of the removal program, which aimed to eliminate the risks associated with asbestos exposure.
