The Wine, Embroidery and Crafts Institute of Madeira (IVBAM) and the Wine and Vine Institute of the Azores will strengthen institutional cooperation in the sectors of viticulture and wine production. This initiative follows a visit by the president of the Azorean body, Cláudio José Gomes Lopes, to the Demarcated Region of Madeira, at the invitation of IVBAM president Tiago Freitas.
The visit, taking place on September 8th and 9th, aims to promote the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and best practices, as well as technical exchange. Cooperation is expected to cover areas such as certification, quality control, inspection, valorization of traditional grape varieties, sustainability, and promotion of regional wine products.
The program includes visits to wine estates and companies in Madeira, participation in grape harvests, and working meetings. Madeira has already processed over 2,335 tons of grapes in the current harvest. For IVBAM, closer ties with the Azores will enhance both regions' capacity to value their wine identities and achieve sustainable sector development.
