The south sidewalk of Avenida do Infante, a vital artery of Funchal, is in a deplorable state. In the area in front of the Olimpo Shopping Center, the pavement is destroyed, with loose stones, dangerous unevenness, and even a crater near a hotel entrance.
Tourists and residents trip daily on these conditions, risking serious falls. The situation harms the city's image and the tourism business itself, despite the passivity of local entrepreneurs and merchants. A shortage of stonemasons is cited as a problem, but the municipality is urged to find urgent solutions, such as public tenders or contracting external companies, to ensure the safety and dignity of public spaces.
