Edições Carmelo is launching the book "BETÂNIA: Between Lines and Clicks" in Funchal, authored by Frei João Costa and Verónica Parente. The launch event will take place on July 11, 2026, at 4:30 PM, at Igreja do Carmo, with free admission.
The work is aimed at adolescents and young people, addressing contemporary challenges, but also parents, educators, and catechists. The presentation will be led by José Vieira from Colégio APEL. Co-author Verónica Parente describes the book as a journey of inner discovery and spiritual growth, focusing on the character of Betânia and the importance of intergenerational dialogue and friendship.
Betânia is a fictional character symbolizing today's youth, facing family, school, social, and spiritual questions. Verónica Parente, a social educator, and Frei João Costa, a Carmelite priest, provide answers to her inquiries. The illustrator is the young Catalan artist Kiko Salcedo.
